WHEAL JANE
Thanks to the generosity of Wheal Jane Limited we have signed a long term agreement to exclusively manage part of their disused mine site for conserving butterflies, moths and other wildlife.
The remainder of their land is normally closed to visitors due to site safety. There is heavy traffic and ongoing work which require strict safety controls.
We are told that 30 species of butterflies have been seen at Wheal Jane and the land is rich in larval foodplants including large amounts of Dog Violet plants.
It is also home to the larval food plants used by many species of moths and it is envisaged that we will hold a moth trapping events to identify the species using the site.
